What's with the animal sounds?
"A FLASHBACK song soars to a dramatic close....Donna holds a note, cymbals ring and die out, Dan's guitar chord sustains and then diminishes.  And out of the split second hush, just before the audience roars its appreciation, comes the unmistakable cry of a wild monkey.  Just what is going on here? The Flying Monkey began screaming into FLASHBACK mics in 2007, courtesy of our friends Grafton and Barb Stine, owners of the world's coolest toy store, Toys On The Square www.toysonthesquare.com in Hummelstown, PA. Other toys have found their way to the FLASHBACK stage, but none of them have come close to the impact of the Flying Monkey.
You see, FLASHBACK is not content to simply beckon crowds to the dance floor with crisply performed ballads and rockers; they don't settle for freely swapping lead vocalists on their radically inventive set lists; they're not content to chat between songs poking fun at the whole idea of playing in a band....no, FLASHBACK seeks to create an indelible impression on every audience and therefore frequently adds a shrill monkey scream as a sort of simian exclamation point at the end of (and sometimes during) a song.

Crowds love the monkey. How can you ignore him? The monkey has its own fan base. Before a recent performance, a waitress breathlessly asked if they'd "brought the monkey." When Sgrig produced the toy chimp from his bag of toys, the waitress squealed with delight and told us we'd just made her night.  Indeed. And he hadn't even let out his first scream of the evening.

But candidly, life on the road with a rock band can take its toll on a monkey made of fabric, stuffing and stretchable rubber arms. So to give the little ape a break, they've added other animals to the FLASHBACK soundscape arsenal.  Attend a gig and you'll hear them all.  But its safe to say that the Flying Monkey will continue to be a tireless performer and reliable sidekick as long as FLASHBACK rocks the central Pennsylvanian countryside.

So check out FLASHBACK soon.  And don't forget the bananas."
